Switzerland: Montreux, Gruyere, Bern

We took the most incredible trip to Switzerland with our friends the Thomases and Craguns! We were gone about 8 days and went to Geneva, Montreux, Gruyere, Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne, and Zurich.

We started out with a quick few hours in Geneva (not much to see), then headed to Montreux where we saw the Chillon Castle where we explored for a few hours. Then we headed to our hotel and walked around the coast in Montreux. That night we decided to drive us high as we could and ended up at the top of the mountain at this amazing restaurant and had the *best* dessert. It was a highlight of the trip for sure! We couldn't get over the incredible views.

We headed to Gruyere the next day and explored the little village. We ate Raclette (yum!). Then we went to the Caillet Chocolate Factory for a tour, where we got our money's worth with the samples.

Bern was our next stop! We headed there and explored for the afternoon/evening. It was a Sunday so things were pretty closed down, but we still saw some of the famous fountains, saw the bears, and managed to drive in the bus lanes for a while. :) Oh and we finished the night by driving to the temple and exploring the forest-y gardens in back of it. Here's a view of the city!

we watched these guys surf down the river for a while.
